Liquid Cleansers and Detergents Department
S.I.S.A. was founded in 1962, with a facility covering an overall area of 23,000 sq. m., and the specific task of producing primary materials required for the formulation of powder and liquid detergents. On average S.I.S.A. invests 15% of annual revenues produced by its installations in research and in the development of new materials, as well as in updating its equipment and systems.
Sulfonation plant
Currently produces dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, ethoxylated and non-ethoxylated alcohol at 27% active material, synthetic and natural alcohol according to multinational customers' specifications, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid pastes at 25, 30, 50 %. The sulfonation plant is presently being expanded, and will be capable of providing alcohol at 70% active material when work on the installation in completed. Production quality controls are performed with sophisticated equipment situated at key points of the production process, and through programmed tests carried out by department laboratories. The Quality Control Laboratory at S.I.S.A. analyzes all incoming primary materials and certifies for customers all finished products sold, using instrumentation that is updated and replaced on an annual basis.
- Production potential: The sulfonation plant operates on a continuous cycle 365 days a year, and has a potential of 45,000 tons annually.
- Production Surface Area: The sulfonation plant is located in a covered area that spans 1000 sq. m., with reservoir tanks spread out over an area of some 2000 sq. m., for an overall capacity of 1600 tons of primary material and 2000 tons of finished product.
Packaging Department
The packaging department covers an area of 6700 sq. m., for an annual production of 80 million bottles.
The household liquid detergents sector comprises 7 high speed and entirely automated production lines, in addition to 3 lines dedicated to cosmetics.
Blowing Installation
The polyethylene bottle production department covers an overall area of some 1000 sq. m., subdivided as follows: production area proper and storage area for finished products in dedicated silos. The feeding of material to machinery is managed by an automatic vacuum system which maintains the entire department constantly stocked. The 6 blowing machines installed produce bottles from 0.5 ml to 3 liters. Annual production averages 32 million pieces. Bottles and vials are stocked in specially designed storage silos by means of a pneumatic handling system. These silos contain a maximum of 250,000 bottles, dialoguing through a modern computerized system to guarantee a continuous supply to the packaging lines.
